Dark Orange Color Block Outfit
Last winter, I ran into this dark orange color block skirt at 2nd STREET Chelsea. It was love at first sight. The statement buttons, the interesting fold, the side pockets, and the navy blue belt caught my eye instantly. I rarely buy things that are dissonant with the rest of my closet, but I made an exception for this skirt, hoping to find its perfect match one day.
And the wait is so worth it - after a few months, a top I bought at THREDUP pairs with the skirt perfectly. Using the color filter and “save search” functions on the THREDUP app helped since I was specifically looking for something beige.
It’s a strangely rewarding feeling when I mix and match beautiful pieces from different secondhand stores. When they come together in harmony, I feel like I’m a skillful matchmaker for clothes.
The skirt is from a small Japanese label, I’m not even sure if they still exist. You can find big and small Japanese brands at 2nd STREET. The store has quickly become one of my favorite spot to shop secondhand fashion.
On a side note, the outfit reminds me of Sailor Mars when she is in her shrine maiden outfit. 😜
